Why Yoga Pants Are Acceptable Work Attire
Mum (1955 - 2022)
Editors Note:
Admittedly, this blog post was written back in 2020. Let me take you back in time, back to the beginning of the panny, when life was weird… and my mum was still alive. My sweet, Facebook-loving mum passed away August 31, 2022. And I’m thankful to have this content written during a time when I was still getting irritated by her incessant comments. Only now, I wish I could get just one more comment from her. But, and not to divulge spoilers, this comment she made back in 2020 was truly a gift... that allows me to show up in comfort within my business. Here we go!
The year was 2020, and I was on my second day of working from home, when my mom commented on one of my Facebook posts.
Usually when I get notifications saying my mum’s commented on something, there’s usually a variety of thoughts that run through my head…
…’She comments on EVERYTHING.’
…’I wonder what she’s posted this time.’
…’Good lord, I hope it’s nothing embarrassing.’
But this time, her comment took me by surprise.
She shared a bit about her own journey of working from home.
And then she dropped this bomb on me…
THE BRAIN WORKS BETTER WHEN THE BODY FEELS GOOD.
Woah, did my mum just say that?
I sat with it for a minute, drinking my prebiotic pink drink and thinking about what I was going to have for lunch.
IT’S TRUE, I thought. Mum wasn’t lying 🙃
My brain started connecting the dots...and FAST. I work the best when I…
get enough sleep
drink enough water
eat nutritious foods
wear yoga pants (or literally anything with spandex)
Say HELL NO to wearing a bra
When your physical body feels GOOD, your brain works better.
This is your friendly reminder to drink the damn water, get a good sleep (6, 7, 8 hours...whatever that looks like to you so you feel rested), and eat some veggies.
Your body (AND your brain) will thank you.
